SYTYCD continues to heat up week after week and last night’s show was no exception sizzling with some excellent routines by our top 8 couples!

Last night on SYTYCD, there was a clear climb from the start to the end showing that the producers obviously hand picked these routines for maximum climax!

Samantha and Johnathan led off the night with a Hip/Hop routine that was more of a flop than hip. As always, appreciation of hard work is given where it is due, but they simply were not together on even some of the simplest moves (as Nigel pointed out). I also agree with him that they are a definite ringer for the bottom three this week. A rough start to the show, but not devastating.

Vitolio and Asuka took the stage next, rocking out to the classic song, “Heartbreaker”. I hate to say it, but I am just not getting these two so far, and I really wish I was. Week after week I am being underwhelmed with their lack of performance and personality in each number they have tackled thus far. I say these two are tagged for a place in the bottom three as well.

Moving along to some happier news, Ade and Melissa are the couple to beat at this point in the game. They have consistently been on top of their game in technique and performance, and we’re not going to be seeing these two go anywhere any time soon.

Brandon and Jeanette dance to stay in the competition this week with a hip hop routine choreographed especially to highlight some of their strengths. Though the choreo was not some of my favorite, I think they did the best they could with it and will definitely be safe to do it all again next week.

Hopefully this week won’t be “Death by Viennese Waltz” because Kupono and Kayla performed beautifully this week. Kupono has not been at the top of my list, but he did redeem himself for me this week. Kayla has always been amazing, so they definitely have my vote!

Mia Michael’s next creation was completely centered around Randi’s butt. Ha.  Evan and Randi tackle this number with a cute sense of fun and playfulness that really worked in playing out this crazy idea.

Jason and Kaitlyn are such a toss up this week for me. I mean, they were great this week, don’t get me wrong, but I think the audience might not have appreciated it as much as they should have with the style of dance and song. Fingers crossed they’re not in the bottom, but who knows.

Lastly, Jeanine and Phillip tackle a Broadway number by Tyce and it felt like Phillip lacked some of the technique needed to really pull this off. Hopefully it wasn’t from worrying about making the dreaded jump over the couch that was so highlighted from rehearsal to performance by everyone. I think the number was fun enough and memorable enough to keep these kids afloat for another week.

Can’t wait to tune in tonight to see who all of you chose out there in America!
