Last night on SYTYCD, the Top 6 took the stage to attempt to prove why they belong to be in the finale next week. Who really stood out this week? Who will be moving on to the final show of the season? I guess we’ll find out tonight, but until then, here’s some food for thought on last night’s show.
I’d like to note that this is the first week in a while that I have actually liked almost all the dances. The choreographers really picked it up this week!
The night opened with an all boy routine choreographed by the Mistress of the strange and dark, Sonia. Really great male dancers are hard to come by and are usually so stylized that it is hard to get a good clean dance and synchronicity in a number like this, but the boys overcame the challenge and looked so well put together.
Jeanine chose Ade out of the hat this week and the were given a Samba. Jeanine shined like a bright sexy star throughout this entire number and Ade was there to support. Yes, Ade possibly missed a note here and there in style, but overall this should have been a hot tamale train number for sure. I was very confused by the judges on their response, because usually that would have hit them right in the gut with a big WOW. (Mary did later come back to Jeanine and apologize for not saying how AMAZING she was in the first number. Thanks Mary!)
Solo’s for Kayla have always been very normal for me. There’s just something about them that lacks energy or passion supporting it. It’s good dancing, just doesn’t feel like there is that emotional connection that helps us as an audience bond with her.
Melissa seems a little (not) thrilled to find she had picked Evan as her partner. Come on Melissa, at least put on a good face for National television. To Evan’s delight they had picked a Broadway routine, and this one was definitely right up his alley. I fault the camera crew for not getting more close ups during this number. It was all about acting and face, not the choreography necessarily, and I think the way it was shot made it hard to get the full grasp of how good Evan especially was in this piece.
Ade’s solos are always so super strong. He consistently has these special moments during his solo’s that make them stand out and really portray him well as a dancer.
Kayla and Brandon are a match made in heaven in the Stacey Tookey Modern routine they were given last night. Their strengths complimented each other and made their work put into this number really leap off the stage with a strong portrayal or what it’d be like to be in a relationship with a married man.
Melissa has done the same solo or something like it from day one. I know she tries to remind everyone that her character is “Ballerina who can it all”, but she could easily leave that up to the judges, since they say that everytime she does a dance.
Tabitha and Napoleon are back this week, and lucky them, they got the pair of Jeanine and Ade in one of the best numbers of the night. Centered around roommates who are being evicted, the play with the cardboard boxes along with the chemistry and unity of J & A made this number incredible. Jeanine has proved her way into the finale this week. If she is voted off, it will be a very sad day.
Brandon did a repeat of his audition piece for his solo tonight, and he saved it for the perfect moment. What a night to bring this back, and boy, did it wow the judges all over again. Not only was he half-naked, but he danced like he remembered what the bottom felt like last week. He deserves to be in the finale, 100%.
Evan got another lucky number for him, even if Melissa felt unlucky to be partnering him. The quickstep given to them was full of spunk and very old school, right up Evan’s alley. They looked great doing it, and it was really a fun number.
Jeanine knows her strong suit and that is being this goofy sex-pot. (I never thought those two words would be used together.) She is so cute and so talented and her personality really shows in her solos.
Evan brings us a classic solo as he reminds us of his Broadway background, always a treat and much fun to watch. Even if he isn’t the strongest Male dancer in the competition, he has stayed true to his style and proved he is an extremely great competitor.
Brandon and Kayla come back for the end of the night with a Doriana Disco routine. The judges lost their minds over it, but I was more reminded of how much I miss Jeanette. Kayla is so good, but I am taken back to when Jeanette and Brandon did that over the top Disco number weeks and weeks back. Oh Jeanette, You should be occupying one of those spots in the finale.
Finishing up last night’s show was an all girl-powered number. Sonia is back once again with a routine based on female superheroes, putting some choreo in these girl’s hands that is just to die for! They all were trully amazing in it. I think that Melissa did fall a little unnoticed, but for the most part it was just a treat.
My “wants” for the finale are Jeanine, Kayla, Brandon, & Ade. Am I going to get that? I doubt it, but one can always dream. Vote below and let me know who you want to see in the finale!
Tonight’s elimination also marked the 100th episode of SYTYCD! For me, the repeat dances from past seasons and Katie Holmes’ tribute to Judy Garland took a quick backseat to the elimination of the dancers that we are so involved with right now.
I now admit that in my previous post I was wrong in my choices of Evan and Kayla, but who could have actually chosen the exact two to go tonight. It really is anybody’s game tonight, and who knew who the so-dedicated fans of SYTYCD would actually pick up the phone for. I think that it is pretty clear that Evan squeaked by, not on techinque or talen,t but a very strong fan base and personality. Kayla was just an “eenie-meenie-minee-mo” for me when it came to the female contenders this year.
I was quite confused when the announcement of Katie Holmes appearing on the show first launched into the media, but last night those ponderings were cleared up as we heard that she and Tom are helping fund the Dizzy Feet Foundation. Her performance was just awkward for me, with clear lipsynching and the apparent fact that it had been previously recorded, I think that for the most part the audience was nothing but underwhelmed.
I do think that the former contestants coming back to perform the Emmy Nominated dances was a great choice. Although still a bit strange as it was clear that the performances were pre-recorded, it was great to see where the show has come from and where it is headed. It also reminded me that this season has had a lack of really stand-out choreography. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some absolutely breath-taking and hard-hitting numbers this year, but it feels like someone dropped the ball along the way in the choreography department. Nigel even commented on the “flatness” of the show on Wednesday night. What happened to every number being or having a “WOW” moment? It certainly is how they started out this season on the first episode with the Top 20.
My jaw completely hit the floor when Janette was the one to go last night. After comments of being absolutely flawless from all the judges this entire season and even being praised as Mia Michael’s favorite dancer this season, how could this happen? After that I was expecting Brandon to go home to REALLY SHOCK us, but thankfully Jason’s stint on the show proved that there is some justice in the world. He was obviously one of the weakest guys having already being in the bottom several weeks in a row. Yes, he had shown some improvements in the past weeks, but apparently that did not outshine the guys who had proven themselves week after week.
Overall, the Janette elimination shocked the pants off of me, as well as Katie’s “tribute” to Judy Garland. Notice that Judy’s brother didn’t seem to be jumping up and down.
I watch for the Wednesdays and dread the Thursdays! Thanks for reading and stay tuned in for the action over the next two weeks!
First off, I’d like to announce that I was actually at the LIVE recorded for this show..so I have an insider’s eye for this episode!! Ellen DeGeneres and Mia Michaels are the guest judges on the show tonight, and besides some internet bloggers negative comments, Ellen is there for comedic relief, not to actually judge the show. Lighten up, people and have a good time.
Tonight, each couple drawn out of the hat performs two pieces each, plus each individual performs their solo, as well as they ALL are involved in the opening group number.
(A little secret is that the opening of the show, showcasing each dancer, was filmed at the END of the taping…How crazy is that?!)
Tonight, SYTYCD explodes on the screen with an original number from Travis (a former SYTYCD competitor) for the entire group. Everyone got a chance to show off their individual styles (especially Ade and Brandon with their athleticism and technique). All the choreographers had great things to say for the most part. Mia Michaels, in a part that was not aired, praises Travis at first but then claims the piece was a little competition, giving a SLIGHT blow to Travis’ choreography.
After that, Kayla takes on her solo and does a mediocre performance that is not as impressive as one would hope, coming from someone who has been so highly praised thus far, and who I am a huge fan of.
Evan chooses Janette and they take on a Sonya Jazz number where they are trying to shut each other up the entire number. This number is full of interesting moments and well synchronized movement. I think it will definitely be remembered, especially once you see the other numbers presented tonight. Evan is extremely lucky to be paired with Janette as she is one of the best dancers on the show right now. (Mia Michaels said she WAS her FAVORITE dancer on the show.)
Next up, Brandon chooses Jeanine out of the hat, and they are given one of the slowest waltzes in history. It was terribly distracting, as such a slow number can really expose any weakness. Poor Jeanine had trouble with her dress and some of the turns, as it was moving at a turtle’s pace. They have to bring it in their next number to pull in the votes. The judges do still promote them as two TOP dancers.
Jason takes on his solo after the last piece, and more and more proves that he is a good dancer. Unfortunately his passion and presence continually lacks, though pulling in the younger girl audience with his looks, his dancing is a bit placed and constricted by his upper body.
Melissa & Ade get the opportunity to couple again this week, and pull a Latin Cha Cha to kick off them being reunited. Melissa always looks gorgeous. With a couple small flubs in the routine it shows that nothing can compare to the fire we have seen from Janette this season. It was still impressive, but not a number to remember. They receive a couple blows from the judges.
Janette comes forth with one AMAZING solo this week, with a mixture of her own style (latin ballroom) integrated with a modern flair. Honestly, one of the best solos of the night. This girl deserves to be in the final, no question!
Broadway is back with Jason and Kayla this week. The two are just perfect for this number following the story line of a musician’s battle between his instrument and his mistress. This is some of the best Broadway choreography from Tyce that we have seen this season, thus the couple will not be forgotten tonight with this hit. Jason gets a nod from Nigel for his great feet and smooth style. Kayla can do no wrong in the eyes of the judges, it seems. Mia claims she can do Television, Film, Broadway, ANYTHING!
Ade’s solo really works the audience with some highly accentuated moments and another backflip, but may lack the pull of attention from America.
Evan and Janette take the stage with American Idol winner, Kris Allen’s, cover of “Heartless” orignally by Kanye West. These two present a sensual piece, where Janette plays the part of a woman who can take him or leave him…Evan that is. Janette graciously receives praise again this week, and Evan receives some blows about his facial make-up by Simon who says he looks a little drowsy naturally. Ellen and the other two lady-judges praise Evan for the way he looks, and applaud him on being different in a business where everyone begins to look the same. I agree.
Melissa is obviously an amazing dancer, but it is high time she chooses something different for her solo. Every week it is similar choreo and even costuming for her, and I worry it’s getting boring for the audiences at home.
Up again, Jeanine and Brandon take on new choreography from, Laurie Anne Gibson(seen on Puff Daddy’s Making of the Band), and take a harsh beating as they learn an incredible hip-hop number to Jordin Sparks’ new song “Battlefield”. This piece is one of the most hard-hitting numbers we’ve seen in a while on the show, which is said by Nigel himself, who says the night was dead until this certain selection. The two take this piece on with passion and conviction and really give their all from top to bottom. Jeanine cracks up at Ellen continually, She is so funny. Mia Michaels brings Gibson to tears with her comments.
Evan presents us with a classic “old-school” moment with a Jamie Cullum song. He gives us a hint of what it’s like to dance like him and live in his world, which is so intriguing. He does drop his hat during the routine, which doesn’t show weakness, but his ability to pick up and continue on, even with a flub-up.
Jeanine dances her solo next and ROCKS it out. Honestly I am not even playing favorites, but she performs a number tonight. Not only does she show her own personal style, but she gives us a piece..not just a miss-matched piecing of tricks and turns, and wow’s the crowd.
Tyce Diorio choreographs a very special piece in honor of those who struggle or have struggle with Breast Cancer and those who have been there to support them. Melissa and Ade are blessed to get this routine this week. This is honestly one of the best pieces I have ever seen on SYTYCD and the judges are touched and nothing but praiseworthy of message, choreography, and execution.
Brandon performs a well-put-together solo, although he bothers the hell out of me, that is filled with thought out twist and turns and even some impressive gymnastics.
In a Zombie-inspired hip-hop routine by Shane Sparks, Jason and Kayla tear it up with this interesting subject and choreography. Jason has really come back in these last couple weeks, I have to admit, I thought he was a goner, but he has really done some good stuff. Kayla is strong in her dancing, but lacks a little bit of the character that Jeanine and Janette bring into every number.
OK…time for the hard part… the bottom three. Are there 3 bottom guys and girls this week? That’s over half of them!! Ok, Instead, I’m going straight for who will be voted off instead of naming 6 out of 8 dancers.
I think that this could be Evan’s week to go, sadly. Oh god..I have to pick a girl? Ok, I say the waltz could have killed Jeanine (although she is my favorite), I hope the hip-hop routine brought her back from that. Otherwise, Kayla could be in danger this week, only on personality alone.
My final choices are Evan and Kayla. That is killing me to write that because I love them all so much now. I guess we’ll see tomorrow night!
As So You Think You Can Dance starts having to weed out even some of even the best talent, we lost another two dancers last night.
Not to brag, but if you refer back to my previous post, I hit the nail on the head with, first of all, the ENTIRE bottom three, and then as well with the two who would go. OK, so only nail on the head with the bottom 3 / Caitlyn and a 50/50 toss up between Phillip and Jason, but still.
Last night was the most intense elimination yet. With the talent playing field being leveled slowly week after week, the decision of who is to go and who is to stay is getting harder and harder.
As I predicted in my previous post, our bottom three were: Phillip & Jeanine / Caitlyn & Jason / and Melissa & Ade.
Phillip and Jason were the most obvious choices as Jason has been no stranger to the bottom three and Phillip’s lack of training was bound to catch up with him. Caitlyn, being partnered with Jason, had shared his bottom three track record, thus sealing her fate last night.
It’s all very bittersweet at this moment, and is only going to get worse as America becomes the sole judge, leaving anyone in danger of being voted off.
I give Ade the award of Male Solo Of the Night. He came out the gate fighting for his life proving the reason why he is on the show, putting any doubt aside that he was should be in any danger.
I have to give Female Solo of the Night to Jeanine, and not just because she’s my favorite. She really put together what looked like a piece, instead of just attempting to be as impressive with tricks, and it worked securing her a place in the top ten.
Nigel made the announcement last night, that after a discussion with the producers, he landed two more spots on the tour for Phillip and Caitlyn. How could they leave these two off the tour anyway? Phillip would bring in a huge audience and ticket sales, and Caitlyn has just been abfab this whole competition. Leave Phillip out of the Ballroom numbers…let him repeat his dance to “Mad” by Neyo with Jeanine, and do his solos and it’ll be a great show!
Next week, top ten! America votes! Couples switch off! Solos! I can’t wait.
A wildly rambunctious crowd roars as Cat Deeley entered the stage last night. Was it that the competition is close to halfway through, or the drastic change of her hair style? I guess we’ll never know.
America’s votes, along with heavy influence from our judges, have narrowed it down to the illustrious top 12, and last night, each couple danced two routines. We get the chance to begin to really know the dancers separately now that we get to see a little more of them each week, along with the fact that they will be split up with different partners next week, if they are put through to the Top Ten.
A little fact for those of you who may not know, the reason being in the Top Ten is so desired by our dancers is that if you are selected, you are featured on the U.S. Tour to follow, which is a huge deal.
Last night kicked off rather quickly, having to fit 12 dances into the 2 hour period, with an opening Disco number by Melissa & Ade. This routine was certainly no match for the intense disco dancin’ done by Brandon & Janine a couple weeks back, but really held it’s own. Melissa constantly surprises us with the ability to do hard-hitting choreo even though her background is mostly ballet, and Ade’s strength is put on display week after week. I feel like Ade’s strength IS his strength, and wonder if put to the test, if he could handle a more intricate routine.
Double K’s, Kayla and Kupono, were fateful enough to land a Mia Michaels routine this week that dealt with addiction. It is honestly one of the best dances emotionally that I have seen out of this season. Last season was filled with these types of numbers, but this year has been more about the fast-pace and fun, so it was refreshing to get a taste of the dramatic. They danced it so very well, and Kayla’s amazing ability mixed with Kupono’s sudden intensity really pulled together a beautiful piece.
Jason and Caitlyn’s Fox Trot had amazing choreography, but I feel the backing music lacked the big crashes and hits that would have accentuated this excellent routine. Following that was the travesty of the Russian Folk number, danced by Phillip and Jeanine. This poor couple completed the steps to the best of their ability, but Phillip lacks a certain amount of training to make this solid from top to bottom. Jeanine can do anything, but the choreography was shockingly “it’s a small world after all” and the costuming made it look like a hysterical joke.
Beyonce’s chart-climbing hit, “Halo”, was featured in the Tabitha and Napoleon dance for Randi and Evan. This was the perfect type of hip-hop for the two with Evan’s background in theater. They glided through the moves, and held an amazing storyline, beaming electric chemistry. There may have been some other dancers who could have hit it a little harder, but these two pulled it off smoothly incorporating their ability with acting.
Dancing what Nigel called the most nearly perfect number in SYTYCD history, Brandon and Jeanine tear up an Argentina Tango all over the place. I mean, the temperature in the room rose about 100 degrees and from start to finish, it was sheer perfection. These two have been on cloud nine, top of their game from day one, and have given a wow-factor moment in almost every number they have performed.
I have to admit that the next set of dances weren’t exactly us much to “sneeze” at, if you get my drift. Though all the dancing is amazing, I feel the dancers may have been worn, since it was their first week learning and perfecting two crazy hard numbers instead of one.
Next up, we have “Natural Woman” where Melissa and Ade take the floor for a second time. I have to say this number was a little under-whelming, not to say the lifts weren’t impressive, it just lacked that extra “umph” to push it over the edge for me. Following that was Broadway routine by Joey Dawling for Kayla and Kupono, that was a great use of the stage and excellent choreo, but was slightly lackluster. Following were Jason and Caitlyn with a Mandy Moore lyrical jazz dance that was pretty to the ‘T’ but was labeled as possibly unmemorable.
The luscious ladies really spiced up the second half for us. Phillip and Jeanine came out strong with a hot little number to Bette Midler’s “Stuff Like That There”. Jeanine is proving that she is a force to be reckoned with and a definite dancer to watch for some of the top spots. When she dances, she brings it all, no matter the challenge or style, and is an absolutely beautiful girl and dancer. Phillip left us needing more, as usual when he is outside of his hip-hop style.
Coming up next was Randi shining like a star and looking amazing in her animal print outfit. She and Evan attacked a Samba and it went very well. The judges slighted Evan, but had nothing but lots of praise for Randi from each of them.
Lastly, Janette and Brandon come back out with an incredible Wade Robson dance. I’ve said it a million times, but I’ll say it again, they are absolutely on top of their game week after week after week, and it is astonishing to watch. I love that they bring an incredible life and character to every dance that they perform.
Now, my predictions are tough, because I think that going home should be more than one guy. The girls this year are just amazing, and if it were up to me, they would all stay. Here are my guesses for the bottom three: (yikes!)
1.) Phillip & Jeanine
2.) Jason & Caitlyn
3.) Melissa & Ade
God, it was painful to even type that. I’d say the only girl that merits being there would be Caitlyn, and I think that Jason or Phillip could go home this week. I guess we’ll see tonight!
Vote to let me know how you like the best!

In the rubble of the American Idol finale, Kris Allen is no where to found and Adam Lambert is bursting at the seams. Meanwhile, SYTYCD is just heating up and the anticipation for the 100th episode is buzzing around the internet.
Premise: A teaser into the world of Post-Idol and Mid-SYTYCD.
Articles spreading all over the internet are bombarding Kris Allen with questions in interviews about his feelings of Adam’s booming success and publicity after the American Idol Finale. Kris, being the all around nice guy he is, only gives a sweet, positive, and supportive vibe in all of these interviews stating that he’s completely behind Adam and has no competetive energies toward him. You can still find updates about Kris, but mostly on his dedicated Fan pages and on the American Idol website.
Meanwhile, Adam has been tearing up the media scene. Immediately after American Idol, He released an official statement that he was indeed gay, and was then suddenly seen on the front cover of Rolling Stone. You don’t get much bigger than that…Although, recent father and fellow gay, Clay Aiken once graced the cover as well, thus making that questionable. Now with the “leaked” song, ‘Want’, circulating around the internet and the threat of a release of a non-RCA record, Adam’s popularity level has rocketed onward and upward. Publicity is publicity, and Adam is full of reasons to keep his face on magazines, newspapers, blog sites, and television everywhere.
Most recently, rumors have been flying around that Lambert’s displaying some “diva” behavior on the Idol Tour leaving a bad taste in the mouths of other contestants. One statement was made that he claimed to be ”the only real singer there”, which sounds more like a bitter backlash than fact.
Not to forget that both Kris and the Glambert are doing double duty at the moment. They are simultaneously recording their upcoming albums as well as being at their best, blowing crowds away night after night. Sounds like quite the workload. No wonder the rumored lack of appearance by the two at Idol Rehearsals is being blasted over morning talk radio. Sounds more like a tiring schedule and some serious nose to the grindstone time for the two.
You can visit the two at either of their official websites:
As for So You Think You Can Dance, the official 100th episode is coming up this week, and it is being advertised as being a HUGE event. With promises of former contestants returning to perform a “best of” selection of dances for the episode, Katie Holmes in her very own featured number, and intense group numbers from people all across the board of the SYTYCD family, this show could bring in it’s biggest audience yet.
Nigel Lythgoe, an apparent ‘tweet-aholic’, has been constantly updating his twitter on the events to come this week, keeping the hard core show fans on the edge of their seats for the big show. He released a statement announcing that Travis and Heidi were returning to the show to dance their famous Mia Michaels “Bench Routine” and said it was just as breathtaking and beautiful as it was the first time.
So no matter who you are, if you’re falling into an A.I. slump or riding the SYTYCD rollercoaster’s highs and lows, make sure to check out the biggest week thus far for SYTYCD and if you get the chance, buy a couple tickets to the American Idol tour to make the decision for yourself who should be grabbing all the attention.
Tonight Kelly Clarkson performed on So You Think You Can Dance and was absolutely amazing!!
After weeks and weeks of disappointing performances, this week SYTYCD comes through with an amazing girl anthem via the likes of KELLY CLARKSON! She claims the reigns of female Pop princess by belting out this tune LIVE, rather than lipsychning like other artists who have performed on the dance show thus far. “I Do Not Hook Up” has been lingering on the charts, while such an artist and such a song deserves to sky-rocket to the top spot on the charts. Unfortunately, there are some catchy rap/hip-hop tunes that have laid claim over those top spots for now, but fingers are crossed that Kelly can soar above and beyond. IDNHU, written by Katy Perry and Kara Dioguardi, has proved to be the female shout out of the summer and rightfully so!
As for SYTYCD, Vitolio and Carla were the right choices to be kicked off this week, as I said in my earlier. Thus showing I am the post to check if you want my almost bang on predictions! Come on!
This week on SYTYCD, the group of 14 dancers were thrown for another loop as the 7 couples drew a new type of dance out of the hat. Lucky for some, not so lucky for others. I’m just going to lay this out for you instead of tell you about a show you already saw.
Straight out the gate, Here are my predictions for the bottom three: Evan & Randy – Jason & Kaitlyn – Carla & Vitolio
I am a HUGE fan of two out of the three couples I mentioned above. I’ll tell you why I think they’ll be in the bottom though.
Evan & Randy were suited up for a very cute Broadway routine that I think was one of the first numbers that just didn’t work as well as the others for them. They are a very short couple, and the choreography was an amazon woman apparently towering almost an extra foot over them. (A very respected and talented Amazon Woman, Joey Dowling, I might add.) Usually these two have such spunk and character mixed with excellent dancing, but this one was just a dip down from their other stuff.
Jason & Kaitlyn really did do an excellent job with such a strange piece. Sadly, there was odd choice in costuming for the number, and the extremely odd idea behind this piece might have been off-putting for some, as it was with Mary Murphy. Do these guys always get the weird costumes or what? Bollywood, Roman Warriors, ALIENS?! What’s to come next week? Anything to have Jason’s shirt off, apparently.
Lastly, I have to apologize, but I have disliked Vitolio from the start and am ready to see him go for good. If they are not in the bottom three this week it is due to a fantastic routine and not because of their personalities. Like I always say, they have to have been good dancers to get this far, but these two are just blah. Carla lacks that extra spark to take her to the next level, and Vitolio is just…weird.
Phillip & Jeanine were unsurprisingly good at their routine. We have seen them do Hip-hop before so no big Wow’s. Kayla & Kupono tackled a vampire-influenced dance that’s already on the fast track to being safe with the U.S.’s obsession with Bloodsuckers. Janette & Brandon give every dance their couple signature thrill and pizazz.
Melissa and Ade are the absolute couple to beat. Stepping up on every thing that has been thrown at them proves them to be the most consistent couple yet, though Brandon and Janette are on their heels.
If it were up to me tonight, Vitolio and Carla would be the contestants to be eliminated. There you have it.
SYTYCD continues to heat up week after week and last night’s show was no exception sizzling with some excellent routines by our top 8 couples!
Last night on SYTYCD, there was a clear climb from the start to the end showing that the producers obviously hand picked these routines for maximum climax!
Samantha and Johnathan led off the night with a Hip/Hop routine that was more of a flop than hip. As always, appreciation of hard work is given where it is due, but they simply were not together on even some of the simplest moves (as Nigel pointed out). I also agree with him that they are a definite ringer for the bottom three this week. A rough start to the show, but not devastating.
Vitolio and Asuka took the stage next, rocking out to the classic song, “Heartbreaker”. I hate to say it, but I am just not getting these two so far, and I really wish I was. Week after week I am being underwhelmed with their lack of performance and personality in each number they have tackled thus far. I say these two are tagged for a place in the bottom three as well.
Moving along to some happier news, Ade and Melissa are the couple to beat at this point in the game. They have consistently been on top of their game in technique and performance, and we’re not going to be seeing these two go anywhere any time soon.
Brandon and Jeanette dance to stay in the competition this week with a hip hop routine choreographed especially to highlight some of their strengths. Though the choreo was not some of my favorite, I think they did the best they could with it and will definitely be safe to do it all again next week.
Hopefully this week won’t be “Death by Viennese Waltz” because Kupono and Kayla performed beautifully this week. Kupono has not been at the top of my list, but he did redeem himself for me this week. Kayla has always been amazing, so they definitely have my vote!
Mia Michael’s next creation was completely centered around Randi’s butt. Ha. Evan and Randi tackle this number with a cute sense of fun and playfulness that really worked in playing out this crazy idea.
Jason and Kaitlyn are such a toss up this week for me. I mean, they were great this week, don’t get me wrong, but I think the audience might not have appreciated it as much as they should have with the style of dance and song. Fingers crossed they’re not in the bottom, but who knows.
Lastly, Jeanine and Phillip tackle a Broadway number by Tyce and it felt like Phillip lacked some of the technique needed to really pull this off. Hopefully it wasn’t from worrying about making the dreaded jump over the couch that was so highlighted from rehearsal to performance by everyone. I think the number was fun enough and memorable enough to keep these kids afloat for another week.
Can’t wait to tune in tonight to see who all of you chose out there in America!
With Kelly Clarkson’s new album, it must have been really hard to choose a next single to release on the radio waves, but it seems that they have done just that. “Already Gone” is set to be her next single, and believe me, this heart-breaker of a song is so incredibly catchy that it’s going to be stuck in people’s head internationally.
This was all proven to be fact when Joseph Kahn ‘tweeted’ everyone that he had just finishing shooting a video with Kelly, and then later in an interview Kelly finally let the cat out of the bag, announcing that it was indeed for “Already Gone”. She said herself that it was quite a different style than she was used to, saying that the video was very “Hollywood Glam” and very diva’ish. I hope that it leaves all the haters (who have been so very rude about her weight) drooling at the mouth when they see how beautiful she is, no matter if she is stick thin or ‘regular-sized’.
Clarkson teamed up on her album with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder on several of the tracks on her album, including ‘Save You’, ‘If I Can’t Have You’, ‘Impossible’ and ‘Already Gone’, giving them all the flair that Tedder has now become famous for. Though all the songs are impressive, ‘AG’ has been the stand out for me from the first day I gave this CD a whirl .
Articles and Blogs alike have been giving this track the title ‘haunting’ and ‘mysterious’, I agree but beg to differ. If I could put a title on it, I would say ‘beautifully heart-wrenching’. It definitely has a very sad undertone and message, and how could it not with the situation that it is describing. A relationship that was never meant to be, where no one did anything wrong, and just doesn’t work. This message is sent from one side of the relationship telling the other that they could not have tried or done anything better and giving them the go-ahead to move on.
Wow, what did I tell you? I just re-read that and it’s utter devastation.
Otherwise, the production on the track is absolute perfection, as well as the unmistakable vocals of Ms. Clarkson, putting emotion in every line and note she sings. I must say, It does have a similar sound to the chart-climbing “Halo” by Beyonce, (also produced by Tedder), as the chord progression seems to be very similar between these song. I personally think that the difference in the melody and in the vocals is what is going to make each of these songs stand their own ground on the charts.
